Technology and its use

We live in an increasingly more technological age.  The leadership of Heritage believes that we should embrace this technology.  More and more students own devices that are more than just phones which they bring into school.  The school encourages the use of this technology.  Unfortunately, an increasing number of students are misusing their devices during lesson time and it is therefore affecting learning and teaching.  The school has a view on this but welcomes comments from students, parents/carers, governors and staff as a consultation, before it acts to redefine the rules for the use of these devices.  What are your views?

Cyber-bullying and/or the exchange of unpleasant comments using technology is an increasing problem for students and parents.  Much of it occurs out of school and is brought into school.  What are parents’ and students’ views of how this should be addressed, with particular reference to the extent of the school’s powers to address this out of school behaviour.  The school is keen to update its policies on this issue and welcomes any constructive comments that can be made

The Class of 2011 – the end of an era and the start of new beginnings

Last week we held our Year 11 prom.  The students looked glorious in their magnificent dresses and suits.  I felt extremely proud of how the young people looked, what they have achieved over the past 5 years and how they have grown and matured.  There were 207 students (96% of the year group) were there.  If you are a Year 11 student that has just left (or a parent of someone that has left) please share your thoughts of the evening and what will be your lasting memory of the school reflecting back over the past 5 years?

Celebrating the opening of the new school

On 29 June we had the official opening of the new school during the morning and a genuine celebration of the partnership that the school has with its community.  In the evening members of the community were able to see a superb film featuring local primary children with a musical score played by the world famous Halle Orchestra,  as well as a number of events, activities and displays provided by students from Heritage and local community groups.  The events of the day have been described by one observer as ‘creating a wonderful memory’. We are grateful for the many letters and emails that commented on the events of the day.  If you witnessed these memorable events what were your thoughts?
